Rud and Ann –

I can’t tell you how sorry I am about the loss of your son. I was deeply saddened to hear this news, realizing that Jay was a source of great pride for both of you as well as the foundation of your life’s work. I used to see one of the undergraduate students who worked for me at CPS, Megan Halsey, doing the JRP rounds with Jay and we frequently rode the elevator up to the sixth floor together. Jay didn’t know me but he always responded to my greetings and introduced himself by name.

I know this loss is very difficult to bear and you have my heartfelt condolences. Both Jay’s and your work will have a long-lasting impact on the University of Kansas and he won’t be forgotten.
