From Naomi and Gene Karp

We were invited to attend the wedding of Amy and Rahul. Prior to the wedding, a small group of family and friends gathered at the Turnbulls’ home. Rud announced that J.T. had a special gift for Amy. Music came on and J.T. sang “Once in Love with Amy,” looking proud and lovingly at Amy while singing. He
was happy as a clam, and I’ll never forget the sweet smile on his face.

During 1987-1988 academic year, Ann and Rud were on sabattical in Washington. The Turnbull family frequently came to dinner at our house. Some of my favorite memories of that year were times spent with J.T. in our family room. He would smile and nod at me, and he always say, “How are you, Geno?” Spending time with J.T. was totally relaxing for me – I could read, and Jay would hum or sing, and we both were content. He was a great friend.
