Dear Friends,
I was contacted by Della Molloy yesterday with the news of JT's passing. I was deeply saddened and shocked by the news and was immediately filled with memories of my first meeting with JT and the times I had spent with him afterwards. I was very fortunate to have had the opportunity to share JT's love of music and I learned so many things from him through his joy of living. He shone when he sang and his smile made me feel like the luckiest (and best) guitar strummer on the face of the planet.
The love in the Turnbull family was where all of this originated. Rud and Ann were so caring for JT and his sisters and there was always an air of humour and compassion in their house, amongst all family members.
I was welcomed in and encouraged and mentored by not only Rud and Ann but, I felt, by JT too. I was fortunate. I brought music to his door and he just opened it for me.
Your friend,
Sterling MacNay
