From Gare Fabila

Dearest Ann,

This past year you sent me a marvelous book about families. I enjoyed reading it and consulted it often. Each word was inspired by your son and your life experiences with him. In this book, you wrote a very beautiful dedication in which you said we are "twin souls." I always resonate with your words. Today, I see how deeply we relate as parents.

Eduardo, my son died instantly without being sick and without suffering much. He lived for 28 years with cerebral palsy, always surrounded by his brothers and father. It has been 10 years since he passed away. Physically he is no longer with us in our house, but he is always with me. I am filled with beautiful memories that motivate me to keep up the fight. I send to you all my love. The only way to feel less pain is through work.

I hope you will be able to come to Singapore to be with all of us and to share many experiences. I will send to you a picture of my Edy so you will know him (he will be the young man with the dark hair holding the banner). Now Edy and Jay are together forever.

The life Jay lived was fruitful, helping you to give meaning to your life to help thousands of families. Your books have always been an inspiration for my work and personal life.

With all my love,
Gare
