I am so very, very sorry to learn of Jay’s death.  Although I didn’t know Jay, I have heard much about his wonderful personality and his independent lifestyle.  You two are wonderful parents and people.  I hope that you find some solace in good memories.

O Ann and Rud.  I am so sorry to learn of Jay’s passing.  The world is now a poorer place.  I am in Dakar awaiting my flight back to Lawrence, so I am confined to this mode of communication.  Please accept my sincere condolences and my admiration for a life well-lived.
