From John

Dear Rud and Ann,

You all remain in our thoughts and prayers as we are deeply saddened by Jay's death. It is his demeanor of gentle quietude which remains so vivid in my memory - the image of an eleven-year-old boy sweetly singing while playing on a swing.

It is this often in accessible place of quiet contemplation that, as a visual artist, I recognize and hold in awe and esteem. Few individuals are, I believe, fortunate and or sensitive enough to access a place of internal reverie, and perhaps for Jay it may well have been just such a place which permitted him to creatively and uniquely navigate this world.

For days now I have been remembering the inflection in Uncle Hubert's voice, recounting stories about Jay with a palpable sense of tenderness, affection, and respect.

Please know that we continue to think of you and Jay, and of the innumerable memories which make his life a profound celebration.

With deepest sympathy and love,
John
