Ann and Rud,

I apologize for delay in contacting to send the condolences of my family regarding the passing of Jay. We just learned of the loss here at UC Santa Barbara this morning via Maria Denney.

I never met Jay, but know from the stories that you both shared at the State of Science conference and meals we shared last March about his role in your lives, those around you, and the disability services and research fields.

Thank you for sharing those experiences and welcoming me in to your lives. Much has evolved because of his role and inspiration in your lives, your family's life and that of the local community and research as well as service communities, and I am sure that much more will.
